Third grade is an exciting year for students at Northern Elementary. It is the year students discover the fun and exhilaration of deep thinking, and expansive learning. It is a year of deeper maturation for young learners in every endeavor. It is the year students begin to apply foundational skills in reading, writing, and math in order to learn about the world around them.

Our role, as teachers, parents and caregivers, evolves right alongside the young learners of our charge. As students become increasingly independent and self-motivated, we foster that independence. We encourage positive peer relationships. We encourage innovative math problem solvers, scientific thinkers, and engaging writers. We encourage love of knowledge and try to plant the seeds of lifelong learning.
