First grade is an exciting time for students at Central Elementary. Our young charges begin to recognize their own role in shaping the dimensions of their own education. They begin to understand how teachers, parents, staff, volunteers and their own peers all contribute to learning; that education does not begin and end with the morning and afternoon bells, but occurs every second of the day. They come to identify their own abilities and become more confident and aware of their own critical thinking and its importance in their increasing role as members of, and contributors to, a healthy community.
