Objectives and Strategies

Student Achievement

Objective #2  Northern Lincoln Elementary School students will  meet the 2008 Annual Measured Objectives (AMO) and show yearly progress in Language Arts and Mathematics.

Strategy #1  Students will demonstrate proficiency in Reading and Writing through a school wide comprehensive literacy program.

Strategy #2  Students who are performing below grade level in language arts will be provided with individualized programs.

Strategy #3  Students will meet the benchmarks in 3 categories: skills, concepts and problem solving utilizing the use of Everyday Math, Problem Solver and PAM Prep.

Strategy #4  All identified students will be provided with additional supports and progress monitoring in the specified area.

Activities that support the strategies/action plans

             Develop and implement PLP’s for all students identified as below grade level

             Identify and catalog interventions to be used.

             Realign supports and resources to optimize efficiency.

             Use data to map curriculum.

             Develop monitoring system to be used in all grades 2-6.

OBJECTIVE #2: Northern Lincoln Elementary School will meet the Annual Measured Objectives (AMO) objectives through Balanced Literacy and standards based math instruction.

STRATEGY: Monitoring of all programs will be on-going and individualized per student need.

RESULT STATEMENT: Individual program efficacy will be achieved.

 

Changes in student learning behavior What will students do to reach the identified results?  How will we know whether students are developing these behaviors?

Changing Instruction What will teachers do to ensure students change their learning behaviors and attain the result?

Monitoring progress with timelines and adjustmentsHow will we measure progress towards the changes in learning behavior and teaching that we want?  How will we keep the principal, parents and SIT informed and involved?

Collaboration and Support How will we use the information we get to improve our program?  When will we discuss the progress we are making?

  1. Students will demonstrate proficiency in Reading and Writing through a comprehensive literacy program that includes guided reading, Read a loud, Independent reading, Directed reading instruction, reading response journals, and  Writers workshop using an uninterrupted Language Arts block.

 

  1. Students that have been recognized as below grade level in language arts and math will receive individualized interventions.

 

  1. Students will demonstrate meeting the benchmarks in math skills, concepts and problem solving through effective implementation of the Everyday Math

        program.

 

  1. Additional supports (Title 1, volunteers, etc.) and programs (after school, Ramp-Up) will be arranged as a result of data collection, progress monitoring, classroom observation.

 

 

  1. Decisions will be made using the assessment data to plan instruction.

 

  1. Personal Literacy Plans will be developed for students who are reading below grade level and will be monitored quarterly.

 

  1. A monitoring system will be developed to aid the staff in evaluating program efficacy.

 

  1. Interventions will constantly be developed to bridge gaps in student learning.

 

  1. Resources will be realigned to allow for optimum use of staff in aiding the implementation of interventions.

 

 

  1. Schedule at least one common plan time per quarter to report progress on students needing interventions with Special education teachers, Title 1 teachers and principal.

 

  1. All teachers will be encouraged to utilize mid-quarter progress reports to keep all parents informed of student progress.

 

  1. We will pre and post test grades with common prompts and math tasks to make growth more measurable.
  2. Catalog assessments to be used and train classroom teachers.

 

  1. Focused learning walks

 

 

  1. Data collection will continue with yearly reports and summations will be sent to faculty making everyone aware of progress.

 

  1. Grade level meetings will be used to report and analyze summations at least twice a year.

 

  1. Organized data will be reviewed and discussed at Parent Report Night.

 

  1. Align the GLE’s with the curriculum and standards

 

 

  1. Principal will be responsible for reporting of measurable data to Central office making sure it is aligned with District Strategic Plan.

 

  1. Professional Development Comm. will align data with assigned professional development for the school.

 

  1. Data Collection Comm. of the SIT will chart progress and ensure progress is being made.

 

  1. Collect and categorize binders of grade level tasks and prompts for classroom use

 

 

  1. Assessments will be report through progress reports and report cards.

 

  1. Community celebration will be planned when Northern reaches AMO.

 

  1. Principal will continue to report out to parents through the use of “Cliff Notes” and PTA meetings and newsletter
