Library Schedule for Kindergarten

Kindergarten students are allowed to borrow one book and they keep it for one week. They may renew it once, if they need it for another week. If the students forget their book on library day they will not be allowed to select a new book. A reminder note will be sent home and they may come to the library during the week to choose a new book.
What's Happening in Class
Students in kindergarten learn:
book care and library etiquette, including library media center rules;
book responsibility;
parts of a book;
how to use a shelf marker while looking for a library book that interests them;
the terms call number, spine label, author and illustrator;
the difference between Fiction and Nonfiction;
how to locate fiction books in the library if they know the author's last name;
introduction to author studies.
