Library Schedule for Grade 1

Students in first grade are allowed to borrow one book and they may keep it for one week. They may renew it once, if they need it for another week. If the students forget their book on library day they will not be allowed to select a new book. A reminder note will be sent home and they may come to the library during the week to choose a new book.
What's Happening in Class
Students in first grade learn:
book care and library etiquette, including library media center rules;
book responsibility;
parts of a book;
the terms call number, spine label, author, illustrator and character;
the difference between Fiction and Nonfiction;
how to locate fiction books in the library if they know the author's last name;
how to find the copyright date for a book;
author studies and author web sites;
where fiction and non-fiction books are located in the library.
