November News

Student Council has concluded its annual spare change fundraiser. We were able to raise $619.81. The money that has been raised will pay for movie nights, spirit day prizes, and donations for school events. Thank you for all of your support. We couldn’t have done it without all of you!

Because we were able to reach part of our goal this year, the students at Lonsdale will be rewarded for their efforts. The whole school has earned a day without homework and an extra recess. In addition to these rewards, grade five raised the most money so they also received a pizza party. Congratulations everyone!!

On November 14, 2008, Student Council hosted a “Hats On” spirit day to support the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. November is National Diabetes month. Students and teachers wore hats for the entire day for one dollar. All proceeds will go directly to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

Finally, Student Council will host a dodge ball night for grade five some time in December. More information will be forthcoming.

Lonsdale 5th graders elected their Student Council for the 2008-2009 school year. Jen, Brooke, Ryan, and Derek represent Mr. Maloof's class. Representing Mrs. Avery's class are Haley, Morgan, William, and Tyler. Ms. Allard is the advisor.

First Movie Night a Success

More than 60 students from grades 2-4 spread blankets and sleeping bags in the Community Room for the first movie night of the year. Student Council presented the just-released film Kung Fo Panda. Popcorn was served by Student Council members, and students had a great time.
