Lonsdale's Principal - Mrs. Magliocco

Lonsdale Elementary School is an Arts Integration School and the home of the Lonsdale Leopards. I am proud to be the new principal at Lonsdale School. My vision is that all students at this school will learn, and they will learn well. In addition, I know all students at Lonsdale need help to do this. I am here to support the teachers, students and parents to make sure that this happens.

Lonsdale just celebrated it’s 50th anniversary last May with a community celebration. The school, although 50 years young, is exuding newness in so many ways.

You are welcome to enter our foyer and see the beautiful new tapestry woven by the Lonsdale students, bright new paint, flooring and lighting.

Importantly, however, are the new and exciting initiatives that the talented Lonsdale teachers have embraced and are expanding upon. Examples are the engaging hands-on science units and scientists notebooks, and the implementation of the structured, yet personalized literacy “Workshop Model“ that caters to students’ individual needs in reading and writing. My plan includes helping teachers expand their expertise with the “Workshop Model” so that all students are reading and writing at appropriate levels. This ensures student progress.

Lonsdale is a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) school. PBIS is a school-wide discipline system that promotes positive behavior. The system includes a clear set of positive expectations and behaviors that are expected of students in every setting at school. Our slogan is “Do the RRRight Thing! Be Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn.”
Students earn “Paws for Positive Behavior”. This year, Paws will be rewarded to students who consistently exhibit good behavior in the various settings at school. I have high expectations for student behavior. My plan is to support teachers to implement PBIS and to establish classroom communities that engage students at high levels. My belief is that students who are active in high levels of meaningful learning, behave well.

As the new principal of Lonsdale School, I am committing myself to HELPING THIS SCHOOL ACHIEVE EXCELLENCE, WITH THE STUDENTS AND THEIR LEARNING AS OUR FIRST PRIORITY.
