Saylesville Elementary School’s Students in Broadway Santa

Forty students in grades 2-5, under the direction and supervision of Traveling Theatre’s Executive Director Beth Cunha and performance director, Tiffany Moreau, held three performances the weekend of December 18th-20th of Broadway Santa.  The students rehearsed for over three months and their efforts were evident in this musical performance.  Other students also participated in an art club and designed the set.  Principal Margaret Knowlton is sure that the experience that the students get from being involved in the theatre will have a positive and lasting effect on their lives and she is thrilled that the school is able to offer this enrichment program.  Everyone is now looking forward to the spring performance, Oliver Twist.

This after school program is just one of many enrichment programs offered to students at Saylesville Elementary School at various times throughout the year.  We have written and submitted a $10,000 fine arts grant offered through Alpha Delta Kappa in the hopes of supporting our theatre program for the 2010-2011 school year.
