Student Art Projects
Still Life Drawings- 8th grade Visual Arts Students in the 8th grade who had Fine Arts first trimester, were given the task of drawing a still life. They were to create an original work of art from direct observation using the elements of line, texture, composition, contour, shade, light, self-expression and in some cases, color. They were engaged in creative problem solving by having the freedom to make key decisions for their own work. They began to understand the components of art criticism, describing, analyzing, interpreting, and judging, using increased vocabulary. They will carry these skills along with skills in careful study, focus, perception, and concentration, to other core classes. This project is in direct alignment with the proficiency requirements needed for graduation. I am extremely proud of all of my artists/students and wish I could have displayed all of their work. Sincerely, Heather Delaney, 8th grade Art Teacher

Family and Consumer Science / Intro to Computers In Family and Consumer Science, students have had the opportunity to experience a “practice run at being an adult” through The Real Game. They have made lifestyle choices and addressed the issues of balancing work, money and leisure time. Students go to Computer class with this information. In computer class students will use Microsoft Word's drawing tools to make a business card for the occupation they were assigned and use Microsoft Excel to make a column graph that reflects their income, expenses derived from their choices made in The Real Game.
