I remember,
Like it was just the other day.
I remember,
When we would laugh and play.
I remember,
Like it was a museum of dreams.
When I was hurt you would mend it,
You would stitch all the seams.
I remember,
Your red house with the swing in the back.
I remember,
The echo bridge, that was old and black.
I remember,
Candy and a kiss before we’d leave,
I remember how kind and giving you were to me.
And for those memories that are so sweet,
You are always in my prayers,
And always in my dreams.
- Mary Ellen F.
A grandparent standing over its children
A place to hide in a game of man hunt
A perfect seat for the fire works
A stairway to the stars
A ladder extending to the sky
A chair for the snow
A resting place for the birds
A thing for the foliage to let go of
A pit stop for the rain on its way to the ground
The old tall tree in the back
A rusty nail at first glance
But truly a weathered
Loved
Part of the family
A winding
Bending
Growing
Tree
