Earth Day 2008

On April 22, 1970, 20 million people across America celebrated the first Earth Day. It was a time when cities were buried under their own smog and polluted rivers caught fire. Now Earth Day is celebrated annually around the globe. Through the combined efforts of the U.S. government, grassroots organizations, and citizens like you, what started as a day of national environmental recognition has evolved into a world-wide campaign to protect our global environment.

On April 22, 2008, Team 6 students celebrated the second annual Earth Day activities at LMS.

The activities included:

bulletA special 20/20 presentation on global environmental issues
bulletHistory of Earth Day
bulletSeed planting for vegetable gardens
bulletGrounds cleanup at LMS
bulletUpkeep of the Team 6 garden around the Lincoln Middle School sign at the entrance
bulletIce Cream party for the students to reward all their hard work for the day

Special thanks to Lincoln Gardens
for their generous donations
this year toward the LMS garden,
which included:
2 new shrubs, flowers and mulch.
