Coming Events at LMS
| LMS Hollywood Hillbillies Program | |

Hello Everyone
As you all know, LMS sends over 200 students every year to a once in a life time experience in nearby Bournedale, MA. While we have been able to secure funding for students that would like to go, the cost of planning experiences for students that choose not to go has increase drastically. The funds raised by the festival will help
off-set the cost of the student’s activities that remain at LMS for the week. Please consider volunteering your time on Friday June 6th here at LMS. Please reply if you are interested.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Eighth Grade Social

Dear Parents/Guardians,
This year’s Eighth Grade Social will be held on Saturday, May 10th. The social will be from 7pm – 9:30pm in the Middle School’s student dining area. There is NO cost for this event with the exception of optional professional photographs, however, any donation would be greatly appreciated. Complimentary refreshments will be available to the students. See the reverse side for picture prices and information.
Tickets will be given out by the student’s homeroom teacher. Students MUST request a ticket by Monday, May 5th in order to attend. No tickets will be given out after this date! No student will be allowed into the event without a ticket! Attending this event is a privilege. All school rules apply at the event. Students displaying improper behavior will be immediately removed from the event and will need to be picked up. Students should be dropped off and picked up at the main entrance. No student will be allowed to leave before the end of the event.
This is NOT a prom, so students should dress nicely but comfortably. Students may opt to come with friends, alone, or with a date. Only students in this year’s eighth grade class are allowed to attend. No students from other grades or schools will be permitted. No exceptions.
Attire for the event is typically semi-formal. For example:
Boys: khakis, button-down / dress shirt, ties are optional
Girls: semi-formal dress / skirt
(NO shorts, jeans, or revealing clothing allowed)
Parent chaperones are not needed because we have many faculty members who attend the Social, but we do need help in other ways:
1. Come and help us decorate! We’ll be doing this on the morning of the Social from 10am – 12pm in the school’s student dining area.
2. Any monetary donation is appreciated to help defray the cost of the event. Donations can be given to Mrs. Gould, Ms. Pluchino, or Mrs. Mellor at any time.
3. Another way to help is by donating refreshments. Soda and non-perishable items can be brought to school on Friday, May 9th and dropped off in the office for
Mrs. Gould, Mrs. Mellor, or Ms. Pluchino. Donations may also be dropped off on the Saturday morning of the Social between 10am-12pm in the cafeteria. We are asking that parents/guardians donate any of the following items:
bottles of soda/water
dessert (finger foods such as brownies, cookies)
appetizer (finger foods such as party pizza, calzones, chips)
Please do not bring any refreshments that require heating, refrigeration or the use of utensils.
Thank you in advance for your support. If you have any questions, please contact
Mrs. Gould, Ms. Pluchino, or Mrs. Mellor at Lincoln Middle School (721-3400).
* Information regarding the Eighth Grade Celebration held on Wednesday, June 11th will be sent home during the first week of May. *
Hug-a-Book for Marissa

March 31, 2008
Hello everyone!
This week we’ll be kicking off the Hug-a-Book for Marissa book drive at the Middle School. For those of you who haven’t read the story in the Valley Breeze about the campaign, I’ve included a link http://www.valleybreeze.com/Free/MAIN-L-book-drive .
The cost to donate a book is $20.00. Brief descriptions of the books we currently have available are on display as you walk by the library. Once the book is donated you will be the first to borrow it. A Hug-a-Book bookplate will be placed in the book along with your name and the date. Please see Sally or me if you’re interested in donating to Hug-a-Book for Marissa.
Thank you!

Dear LMS Teachers and Staff,
Beginning on Monday, March 3rd and running until Thursday, March 20th, our school will be participating in the annual Pennies for Patients Program for the American Cancer Society and Leukemia research. More information on this program has been placed in your mailbox and flyers will be distributed for display in each homeroom. In the literature that we have reviewed, anything to encourage kids to get involved is stressed and Spirit Days are a great way of doing just that, if your team is interested. Each team will receive informational letters to send home to parents informing and educating them on this program.
Advisory students from Team 2 (Mr. Bruckner and Ms. Plant) as well as members of this years girls’ basketball program will be assisting and coordinating the program. The help we need from homeroom teachers is to encourage the kids to participate, monitor donations for spirit days (right into the box) and keep the coin boxes in a secure location between pick up dates. Thank you for your cooperation and we hope our efforts will help make a positive difference for so many people. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at brucknerj@lincolnps.org or call ext. 1749.

Adieu…
When the final curtain falls on this production, we will be retiring from the Drama Club after twenty-three years of combined service. It has been an extremely rewarding experience for us, and we are proud to have helped nearly seven hundred students to grow both academically and socially as a result of our involvement. We hope that they’ll always look fondly upon the time that they spent in the Drama Club.
We cannot leave without expressing our sincerest gratitude to those that have helped us through the years. We especially appreciate the time and talents of two very special volunteers, Nicole Frechette (ten years) and Katherine Costello (four years), who helped to make each year’s production far better than if we had been left to our own devices.

Story of the Play
Gram Hawley and granddaughter Cindy Lou run the general store and post office in Happy Hollow, somewhere deep in the Ozarks. Although Cousin Bubba and Clem are pretty eccentric, not much happens in Happy Hollow until some city folks descend makin’ for a real ‘Hollywood Hoedown.’ Among the visitors are distant relations, Josephine and Charlotte from Hollywood who are terrible snobs, a big-time movie producer who is going to make a flick about ‘Life in the Hills,’ and a pair of crooks who discover that ‘Granny’s Got Gas’….. (under her property, that is, and it’s worth a fortune!). On top of it all, Cousin Bubba soon takes quite a shine to one of Charlotte’s snooty sorority sisters (‘Boyfriend from the Mountains’). And with the new highway comin’ through, the little town is gonna be blown off the map (‘Poor Happy Hollow’)! This culture clashin’, kick-yer-shoes-off musical will make y’all want to stomp your feet!
Tidbits
Christina Albanese (Gram Hawley) Howdy! I thank my whole family, my friends, and especially the drama teachers. This is a hilarious show, and we’ve all worked so hard. Enjoy the show!
Evan Crocker (Clem) Drama has made this year quite a laugh. I can’t wait to do some plays at the high school!
Vanessa Ribeiro (Matilda Quail) Preparing for this show helped me to get over my stage fright. It was a lot of fun and a great school activity.
Keyana Roohani (Henrietta Paxwax) I’m very excited that I got a part in this play. It was lots of fun and it should be pretty good. Break a leg!
Ashlyn Lillibridge (Cindy Lou) I’ve done drama in and out of school for four years, and I want to thank everyone for their support. Enjoy the play!
Justin Sundaram (Charles Seabury) This was my second year in drama and it was as hard as ever. I can’t wait to join drama at LHS!
Emily Katz (Alice) I’ve enjoyed my first year in drama because it’s a great experience and we have fun on and off the stage. I want to do this again next year!
Rose Tracy (Josephine) I have had so many great experiences in the drama club, and I’ve been able to get closer to a few friends. On Mondays, I would often think, “Yah! We have Drama Club today!”
Casey Parker (Charlotte) Drama is my life and I’m thrilled to share the joy of performing with a cast I’ve grown so close to. To them I offer lots of love, laughs, and bruises!
Barrett Jourdan (Bubba) Oscar and I would like to thank my family and everyone in the drama club for the terrific support!
Matt Olean (Larry Houston) Even with the new faces in this year’s cast, we came together to make this show possible. Thanks to all my friends and family for supporting me!
Yixin Sun (Isabelle Phelps) This is the first time that I’ve had more than five lines in a play! I was really nervous, but I had a blast not only with my character but with everyone in the production.
Bryan Sadowski (Sherrif Tom) I would like to thank my family and everyone who made this possible. Special thanks to Robbie, Barrett, Evan, Matt and Ramzi…my favorite drama geeks!
Ramzi Al-Bilbeisi (Ralph Cavett) I’d like to thank Bryan for being my friend, my parents for driving me home, Barrett for making me laugh, Dylan for being himself, and Robbie because he’d hurt me if I didn’t mention his name.
Lauren Giarrusso (Opal Edwards/Miss Kearns) I’m in eighth grade, and I wanted to try this before going to the high school. It’s fun playing two parts that aren’t so big that it’s hard to remember the lines. Drama is a fun experience, and I’m glad that I did it!
Melody Briggs (Miss Lennox) This is my first year in drama and it was a real blast! It’s fun to have a role and try to understand the character. Plus, the other actors are really great! We are all like kinfolk!
Robert Costello (Jim Foxhall) My character isn’t really a crook; he’s just an independent businessman with vision! I’d like to thank Mrs. Marsden, Mr. Martel, Nikki, my sister Katherine, and my parents who are great supporters. Thanks, too, to Bryan, Barrett, and even Matt for their support.
Sonya DaRosa (Lucy Valentine) This is my first show, and I was afraid of what people would think of me. Now, I can’t wait to see the faces when I sing “Granny’s got Gas!” With Katherine’s help and training, I’m sure that I’ll be up to it!
Alicia Pacheco (Finlandia) This was my first year in drama and it was lots of fun. I can’t wait until next year’s auditions. We’ve worked hard and tried our best to make the show great, and I hope y’all enjoy the show!
Brianna LoCurto (Vera Houston) This was my first time acting in a real production and it was a blast! The cast and crew were so much fun to work with, and it was an unforgettable memory.
Allegra Caluori (Bobbie-Jean) Even though I only have about two lines, I love drama. It’s a bunch of fun and a great experience!
We hope y’all had a stompin’ good time!
Thank y’all for comin’!
