| I would like to welcome the 22 new students
and 35 new second graders to Lonsdale for this 2009-2010
school year. We are off to a wonderful start!
Lonsdale is
dedicated to examining teaching and learning at our school
in order to commit to continuous improvement
in what we do. This year, we are embarking on a few projects
in order to enhance student achievement. We are designing
an approach for children to respond to literature that
is aligned with state standards and cohesive across the
school.
We are also part of the state driven and district adopted
Dana Center project that will guarantee a clear and viable
curriculum in Mathematics. This project is a 3-5 year commitment,
and will prove to be well worth the time and commitment.
Lonsdale
is a PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support)
school. We approach managing behavior largely
in a positive
way by setting clear expectations in the various settings
at school. The program is school-wide, yet classroom-based.
Look for our PBIS newsletter which will come out bi-monthly.
I
leave you by asking you to enter Lonsdale ready to interact
as a partner in your child’s education. My goal is
to increase that partnership over the course of my tenure
at Lonsdale. I am always available for you and your child.
Let’s have a wonderful year at Lonsdale, the home
of the Leopards! |
