| Peanut/Tree Nut Law The
State of Rhode Island has implemented a peanut/tree nut law effective
this 2007-2008 school year. no food containing peanuts or tree nuts
will be sold at school. ALL classrooms will be nut free for snacks
and foods brought to school. A healthy working snack leads to better
learning and is recommended. Children can bring foods containing nut
products for lunch. Accommodations will be made for all students with
severe allergies. |

| Health Concerns Please
inform the school of any new health problems, such as surgeries, accidents,
and allergies that may arise during the school year. |
| |
| Medications If a child
requires any prescription medication during school hours, both the
physician and a parent must give written consent. Medication permission
slips are available in the nurse's office. All medication must be
in its original container and brought to school by an adult (with
the exception of inhalers). Most students can self carry an inhaler
with the same written permission from an MD and parent, and communication
with the school. If your child requires over-the-counter medication,
written parental permission is required, and an adult must bring the
medication to school. |
| |
| Illness/Absence Please
contact the school if your child will be absent. Be as specific as
possible with the reason. This will assist me in completing the disease
report that is required by the department of health. If your child
has been ill, he or she should be free of a temperature (less than
100 degrees) for 24 hours before returning to school. Notify the nurse
if your child has been diagnosed wiht strep throat, chicken pox, impetigo,
viral/diarrhea illness, pneunomia, influenza, fifth's disease, scabies,
or head lice. |

| Tabs for Shriners Lonsdale
is participating in the Shriners' Tab Collection project again this
year. This is very easy and everyone can help. Simply remove the "tab"
on the top of any juice, soda, pet food, or soup can. Bring these
tabs to school. The money received from the recycling of these tabs
is used to buy medical and non-medical items for Shriners Hospitals
for Children. The tabs will be colleced every school day until the
end of the year. In june, representatives from Shriners will come
to Lonsdale to collect them. Thanks in advance for your support. |
