Homework Policy

Homework must be meaningful and reinforce the work we do in class. Each night students should spend a few minutes studying spelling words. Math work is also given on a regular basis, usually study links. And weekly, as outlined in the literacy logs, students should write two entries each in their reading journals and writer's notebooks. All assignments are written daily in assignment pads. Homework is checked for completion each morning. Happy face stamps indicate that homework has been completed.

Incomplete assignments result in the following report card grades, per quarter:

  • 0-1 incomplete assignments = 1 (excellent)
  • 2-3 incomplete assignments = 2 (good)
  • 4-5 incomplete assignments = 3 (fair)
  • 6+ incomplete assignments = 4 (unsatisfactory)

Parents will be notified after 3 incomplete assignments, and again after 5 incomplete assignments.
