College and Career Resources

  • O*NET Online (http://online.onetcenter.org/) is a great place to find information on careers that suit your interests. Their online resources section has the Occupational Outlook Handbook and lots of other great sites to do career research!
  • Occupational Outlook Handbook (http://www.bls.gov/oco/home.htm) is the online home of the OOH, which we have in print in the Library. NEW! The 2010-11 Edition is available on the website!
  • CareerZone (http://www.nycareerzone.org/) has self-assessment tools as well as great 2-4 page career profiles, organized by career cluster or searchable by specific career title. Great site!
  • Majors (What Can I Do With a Major In...?) (http://www.uncwil.edu/stuaff/career/Majors/) Ever wonder what kinds of careers are available to Art History majors? This site will answer that question for this and many other college majors. It also provides a general overview of the marketable skills a person majoring in a specific subject would have, and gives links to employment opportunities and professional organizations related to that major.
  • FAFSA on the Web (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/) Need to see what financial aid opportunities are available? Need to know the deadline for the application for financial aid? Here's the official site of the U.S. Department of Education's Financial Aid Office.
  • CollegeBoard.com's College Search (http://apps.collegeboard.com/search/advhome.jsp) Looking for a college that's the right fit for you? That is in the right place, accepts your financial aid, or has the obscure major you want? This college search site has all that and MORE. Probably the best college search out there, including the ones we pay for!
  • Online subscription to Access Bridges (http://www.access.bridges.com/) See a librarian for the access ID and password to get college and career information from this site.
