·
Public schools exist to provide equal
educational opportunities for all students.
·
Effective communication is a required, vital
aspect of the learning experience.
·
Students have the right to a safe, healthy,
and nurturing educational environment.
·
Students will be challenged and supported to
achieve their potential in a positive, accommodating learning environment.
·
Each student has unique needs and learns in
multiple ways.
·
Stakeholders will stay involved when clear and
concise action plans produce desired outcomes.
·
Each student will reach his or her highest
potential when education is a responsibility shared among schools, families,
and communities.
·
High standards of academic achievement and
behavior are necessary for an effective learning environment.
-5-
·
Efforts will be focused on high student
achievement through standards-based instruction.
-6-
·
By 2005,
student achievement will improve by 5% annually in the areas of literacy,
mathematics, science, health, technology, and applied learning as measured by
required State and district performance assessments.
·
We will
analyze State Assessment results for the purpose of determining curriculum
revision and/or instructional changes.
·
We will design and/or revise district
portfolio requirements and performance assessments to provide a complete
assessment protocol.
·
We will provide appropriate professional
development activities to assist staff in implementing those instructional
procedures which will improve student achievement.
·
We will
provide remedial programming for students to improve academic achievement.
-7-
OBJECTIVE #2
·
The Lincoln School Department will fully
implement a standards-based curriculum on a K – 12 continuum by 2005.
·
We will
review and revise all curriculums according to the curriculum development cycle
to align with district adopted standards.
·
We will support professional development plans
which align with standards-based curriculum revision.
·
We will support and expect grade level
articulation of instruction K – 12 in all curriculum areas.
-8-
OBJECTIVE #3
·
Every school will develop a comprehensive
home, school, and community partnership by 2003.
·
We will
develop multiple collaborative programs between homes and schools to educate
and engage families in the educational process involving their children.
·
We will initiate alliances with business and
community agencies to assist in acquiring necessary funding and resources for
implementing and sustaining school, home, and community involvement programs.
·
We will empower our individual schools and
support their efforts in developing and implementing school improvement plans
that are consistent with the district policy regarding parent, family, and
community involvement.
-9-
OBJECTIVE #4
·
The Lincoln School Department will endorse a
comprehensive plan that supports improved instructional programs, space, and
facilities by 2002.
