Dear Parents/Guardians of Students in Grades 3, 4, and 5:

Starting on Tuesday, October 2^nd, your child will be participating in the New England Common Assessment Program . The schedule will be as follows:

READING Grades 3, 4, and 5

Tuesday, October 2
Wednesday, October 3
Thursday, October 4

MATH Grades 3, 4, and 5

Friday, October 5
Tuesday, October 9
Wednesday, October 10

WRITING Grade 5

Thursday, October 11
Friday, October 12

The test results will be used to:

Determine what individual students know and are able to do
Report student progress to parents/guardians
Plan for improved instruction

This information will help us to meet the needs of individual students in order to be successful in school and to improve our programs and instruction. You will receive a copy of your child’s test results as soon as they become available to us.

Just a reminder about things you can do at home to help your child have the best possible results:

Be sure your child gets a good night’s sleep.
Be sure your child eats breakfast.
Be sure you do not raise your child’s anxiety level by placing unnecessary importance on the test. It is just one way we gather information.
Be sure your child arrives at school on time.
