Policies and Procedures

Arrival Time

The instructional day for students will be from 9:00 AM until 3:20 PM. Students may enter the building and report to their classrooms no earlier than 8:55 AM. Please note: Students may not be dropped off earlier than 8:55.

Entering the Building

All parents and visitors must enter the school through the main, front entrance. Side and rear doors are not to be used to gain entrance to the school.

Early Dismissal

No student will be released from school without a note from a parent/guardian. Students will always be sent home on their regular bus unless we have a written note from a parent/guardian.

Please report to the office and the secretary will call your child from class. Do not go down to the classroom. For the safety and welfare of all our students, we must know who is in the building at all times. Students should be signed out by their parent/guardian at the front desk using the form provided.

Picking up a Student at Dismissal

A child must have a note from a parent/guardian indicating that they will be picked up at 3:20 PM.
The principal will announce at 3:20 that students with notes should come to the front foyer.
Students will be dismissed through the front door.
All student without notes must take their regular bus home.

We encourage you to have your child take the bus home in order to reduce traffic congestion at dismissal time.

Phone Use by Students

We discourage students from using the phone to call home unless it is an emergency. Your cooperation in this matter will be appreciated.

Vacations

We ask that you schedule vacations during the designated school vacations. These dates are listed on the school calendar. A Vacation Form must be filled out two weeks in advance if your vacation is planned for a time other than scheduled school vacations. These forms are available in the school office. Your child is responsible for any worked missed while out of school on vacation. Teachers are not required, and it is sometime not possible, to prepare work in advance for students who are on vacation when school is in session.

Recess

All children are expected to go out with their class for recess. If your child must stay in for medical reasons, please send in a physician's note and accommodations will be made. Appropriate dress is required, especially during the winter months.

Phone Messages to Students

If it is necessary to call and leave a message for your child, please call before 1:45 PM. Calls received at dismissal time make this hectic time extremely difficult. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Changing Buses

Students are not allowed to change buses without a note from a parent/guardian. Some buses are very crowded, and it may not be possible to allow other students to ride a particular bus even with a note.

School Cancellations

The following radio and TV stations will announce school cancellations. Please do not call the school.
