Parents Only

The care I give in the Health Office is guided by the Standing Orders of our town physician. These are very specific guidelines. They cover every imaginable situation that may arise in the school setting from removing a splinter to injuries resulting from weapons. It is a very comprehensive list of scenarios. Most of the time sick visits happen in the early part of the day.  Sick visits usually include a temp check, a gargle with a throat check or even a listen to breath sounds. On occasion a  visit may be more concerning and will require a call home. A student must be sent home for any of the following-

Please  inform me of any new allergies or medical conditions that may impact your child's learning. Also try to keep emergency phone numbers current by passing on any changes to the secretary. Only individuals listed on the Emergency Card are allowed to pick up a child being released for medical reasons.

School is an important part of your child's early years. We would like your child to attend school every day.  The following hints will help establish the importance of school and  help your child come to school ready to learn.

  1. A good night's sleep is a good start to a great day at school.
  2.  Setting up an early and routine bedtime will help.
  3. A good breakfast will feed the brain and make learning fun.
  4. Most teachers allow a snack during school hours. Providing a healthy snack will keep the brain drain away.
  5. Start and keep a good after school schedule that includes enough time for homework completion.
  6. Always squeeze in some outside play in the fresh air.

There are those times when your child is sick and you are not sure whether to send him / her to school. The guidelines in Sick in School  will shed light on this subject.
